In this lesson on the World Cup in Qatar, students compare the protests over LGBTQ+ rights today and how the athletes are trying to advocate for social justice with the protests at the 1968 Olympics.

Students read two articles, one about each event, and a complete a worksheet that breaks down each article and has students write a reaction to them. Lastly, they have to compare and contrast the events and make a prediction about what might happen in the coming weeks the World Cup in regards to the protests.

This will work for grades 6-12. There are links to videos on each article to learn more.

Both a PDF and link to google docs are available if you wish to edit or change anything.
