WHAT STUDENTS LEARN

In lesson one students learn about the Trail of Tears, President Jackson's Indian Removal Policy, and the tragedy that befell the Cherokee and other tribes as they were pushed off their lands. Next, students learn about Manifest Destiny and how this led to the Mexican-American War and the effects the war had on America. Lastly, students discover how the discovery of gold in California led to the mass migration westward and the lives of the forty-niners out west.
